As expressed in a previous posting, the White House Correspondents Association Dinner is an annual event where politicians of both parties who pretend to represent different constituencies and values, the media that pretends to cover them objectively, and the corporations that do not hide the fact they own both entities, can openly acknowledge they're one big Happy family.
Add to the mix, actors, singers and other pompous celebrities that attend which really have no business being at an event specifically for "correspondents" and its the clearest example of how the power elite come together with the same agendas to intermingle for their own egotistical and/or nefarious purposes.
Some photos from the event held this past Saturday night...
~ The person at the podium is Seth Myers, Head Writer at Saturday Night Live and who does their "Weekend Update" section of the show... After this 'gig', do you Really think he will Ever tell a joke on the show that is sincerely critical of the President and his policies? Hmm, Really?
~ Jenny McCarthy, a talentless, classless whore whose claim to fame is posing numerous times in Playboy and sleeping w Jim Carrey-- what is this person doing at the Correspondence Association dinner? She certainly is proud of showing off the side of her breast though..
~ MSNBC's Chris Matthews of "Hardball" on far right w hand to face, listening to Obama.. The man looks like he's deeply in love.. like he wants to place warm wet smooches all over the President's face, which is consistent with the viewpoints of his show and network on the whole.
~ Pamela Anderson, an even lower class whore than Jenny McCarthy, who not only posed numerous times for Playboy but is the originator of the celebrity sex tape by "performing" with Bret Michaels-- tell me again, Why is this thing at a White House Correspondents' Dinner? Just vile..
~ CNN's Wolf Blitzer looking like a smug, arrogant prick next to Mila Kunis who really had no business being at the event
~ Karl Rove, Republican chief strategist for George W. Bush (R) cozying up with Madeline Albright, former Sec. of State under Bill Clinton (D)
~ The "Important" Sean Penn just arriving after Saving the World
~ Former Dancing With the Stars contestant Bristol Palin looking like a call-girl standing next to Stars' hostess Brooke Burke-- are you kidding me? I can sorta kinda see Sarah Palin but her daughter at this function?? Seriously?
~ Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown (R) - could of sworn he was the one that scuttled the original ObamaCare before it got revised.. and yet he felt the need to attend
~ CNN Correspondent Dana Bash with film director Jay Roach-- probably talking about which film is the higher quality masterpiece Roach directed- "Austin Powers", "Dinner for Schmucks" or "Meet the Fockers"..
~ Paula Abdul- former cheerleader, former dancer, former singer and former American Idol judge looking a little bit 'blitzed' as she flirts with Wolf Blitzer (far right)
~ Lauren Conrad.. not even an actress. Her 'claim to fame' is appearing on an MTV Reality show.. and this nobody nothing with zero to contribute to the political discourse is attending a Correspondents Assoc. Dinner... Amazing..
So what's the point of all this.. besides an opportunity to vent at people who are suck ups and egotists who think of themselves more important than they really are?
The point is there should not be this level of coziness between politicians and the media. The relationship should be adversarial, not chummy. As a journalist, you can not possibly write objective or critical pieces about politicians when you're busy sucking up to them at the same time. And celebrities have absolutely no place attending this event.
If you wonder the reason very little to nothing gets done politically.. the reason you are constantly ill-informed when you pick up a newspaper or turn on TV.. the reason your standard of living is getting progressively worse while those at the top see their wealth expand, is that all these various entities collude together for their own mutual self-interests.
Like a club.. like a fraternity/sorority.. like one big happy Family...
